Hurt

These were not simple tears
the one she cried

They weren’t mere droplets
falling from her eyes

Her face was contorted
twisted and red

They saddened her world
confined her to bed

They accompanied sobs
that racked her entire soul

And darkened the mood
of those who tried to console

Wounded was she, deep down inside
where only she knew a such a hurt could hide

A wound so deep she thought it was dead

Apparently it was just sleeping instead
