The Header Picture

It used to be that my header was a picture of a desert tortoise from my trip to Joshua Tree National Park.  The new picture a close-up of the top of my new desk.  It is a student desk from the 60s, that was refinished by Ms. Kathryn, who taught the ceramics class at school.  The 12 main tiles were picked up from her trip to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.  The rest of the tiles were painted and created by the students.  Whenever I see it, I am in AWE of her artistry.  At no point would I have looked at an old desk and conceptualized the art that it became.  I wouldn’t have known how to lay it all out.  Her hard work is a piece that I will treasure always.  Now before you go thinking I’m special, my teaching partner, Mr. Doss, also was given an equally nice piece.  That said, mine is more beautiful. 😛

Can you believe that a child actually sat at this desk? They must have been tiny.
